It’s been 66 years this date we remember;

It was 1946 the 23rd of November

When Bob and Helen with hearts full of hope,

Sset forth to Covington — the plan —to elope.

It seemed the preacher was so hard to find

(It’s a wonder that one of them didn’t change their mind).

Now, Bob tripped on the step, but didn’t fall far;

He was saved by his best man, Van Dyke (the star).

They motored to Crawfordsville for the honeymoon.

Is there anything in Crawfordsville to make a bride swoon?

But these many years later, we can now

Report the success of that elopement plan.
