Virgil and Katherine McConnell of Covington, Ind., will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Aug. 10, 2012.

Virgil McConnell and Katherine Lewsader were married Aug. 10, 1947, by Virgil’s father, the Rev. E. E. McConnell at the First Church of Christ in Covington.

Virgil served in World War II as a paratrooper in the 101st airborne division. He retired from Olin-Matheson in 1988. Katherine retired from the Fountain Trust Company in 1988.

The couple has three children, Phyllis and Dr. Joseph Fabrizio, Jody (Joseph) Lawrie and Alan (Elaine) McConnell. They also have four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren
