Alva and MaryLou Carpenter, of Covington, Ind., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house today, Dec. 30, 2007. The event will be hosted by their children at the Friendship Center in Covington.

Alva and MaryLou Isom were married on Dec. 15, 1957, in Knoxville, Tenn.

Alva retired after 42 years at Olin & Flexel, and MaryLou retired after 16 years from Medline.

The couple has three sons, Larry (Tammy) Carpenter, of Newton, Ind., Darrell (Ura) Carpenter of Covington and Steve (Tracy) Carpenter of Crawfordsville, Ind. They have one daughter, Debra (Cole) Butler of Claremore, Okla.

They also have eight grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, Emily and Adam Carpenter, and Sarabeth, Nicole, Logan and Delci Butler. They have one great-grandchild, AhLasia Grace.
