To celebrate the 65th anniversary of Paul and Cynthia (Winslow) Greene of Hoopeston, their children are hosting an open house reception to honor them. The event will be from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 13, 2012, in the community room at Greene Welding and Hardware in East Lynn.

The couple met at Purdue University in January 1947 at a 4-H function and tied the knot Oct. 12, 1947. They were married in Fairmount, Ind. Together, they farmed and built the family business.

Their children are Robert (Maureen), Sue Greene of Industry (deceased), Marilyn (Les) Maul of Rankin, Dave (Cheryl) Greene of Temple Terrace, Fla., Rex (Rhoda) Greene of East Lynn, and Susan (Richard) Hoffman of Robbinsville, N.J.

They have 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
