Danville Vikings’ winning streak was broken when they faced the Normal West Wildcats. The team took a tragic loss, 15-14.
This is the first time in three years Danville lost a conference game. The team lost its ranking of No. 3 in the state.
Students were shocked by this defeat.
“We lost, I can’t believe it. I really thought we had this one,” said Danville High School sophomore Diamond Moffet.
Some players of the team seem to be more positive on the situation.
“It’s not over, we’re going to win state this year,” said junior James Brigham of the football team.
The Vikings struggled through the game. The team scored only two touchdowns, by Trent Sherfield and Dennis Hightower respectively. They came out with a defeat.
The Vikings’ current record is 4-1, but the season is far from over.
“We still have time to redeem ourselves,” said junior Aron Carter of the football team.
