DANVILLE —
The Danville Vikings once again were the victors in their game Friday evening. Although the team has prepared extensively, the game was not won with ease. A challenge was made and a gauntlet was thrown.
Each score the Vikings made was matched by the Mattoon Green Wave with confidence.
Coach Brian Anderson gave the team a motivational pep talk with worry on his mind. Down by just one touchdown in the second quarter, he urged team members that they “can’t just give it to them,” and after half time they were determined not go down without a fight.
Before stepping onto the field, a faithful invocation was given by Dennis Rose, Danville Vikings’ offensive end. He said, “These guys aren’t on our level. We cannot let these guys beat us.”
The Vikings got back in the game with a new attitude and gave the Green Wave a run and won 45-24.
