DANVILLE —
After years of talk, last year South View Middle School began planning the renovations that they are currently working on. They are scheduled to be finished in 2012.
South View received new restrooms, lockers, a roof and windows. It also received a new cafeteria with a stage, fresh paint, P.E. lockers and updated the electricity.
A big addition to the building was air conditioning; but according to principal Brenda Yoho, South View has not yet experienced it.
For years, SVMS students have had to share lockers. Now every student has his or her own individual locker.
“They love it!” says Yoho, “In the past, students have been able to tolerate the sharing, but we always had a few problems.”
Mrs. Yoho says, “The building will finally reflect the positive climate and outstanding staff and students we have.”
She also is proud of her staff and students with their patience during construction. She says they were even helpful with the groundbreaking for the cafeteria.
They plan an open house in October and another in April when the cafeteria is finished.
