Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Whiteman of Stafford, Va. (formerly of Hoopeston), are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Anna Whiteman to Raymond Samuel James McConnell. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin McConnell of Stafford.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Mountain View High School in Stafford, and earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of North Stafford High School in Stafford, and earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Longwood University, Farmville, Va. He is serving as a surface warfare officer aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise (CVN-65), home ported in Norfolk.

Jessica is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whiteman of Hoopeston and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Rush of Wellington.

Raymond is the grandson of Harold McConnell of Durango, Colo., and Joy DesRoiser of Whitehall, Mont.

The couple will be married at The Olde Silk Mill in Fredericksburg, Va., on April 6, 2013.

Following the wedding, the couple will reside in Lexington, Va.
