HOOPESTON —
As prices at the grocery store continue to go up, busy families on a budget often find it harder to prepare healthy and affordable meals. To help meet these needs, Hoopeston Public Library is partnering with the university of Illinois Extension in offering a free eight-week class to assist families with limited resources in making food choices that will improve their diet and health.
The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) will begin at noon on Wednesdays, beginning this week. The program is planned to help families learn how to plan and prepare nutritious meals, shop wisely and handle food safely. Classes will include tasting new foods, learning to cook, recipe demonstrations and other hands-on activities.
The classes are designed for adults only. No child care will be available, Space is limited, so interested participants are asked to register in advance by calling the library at 283-6711.
