DANVILLE —
Editor:
Why is the city having closed-door meetings and voting huge raises for city employees?
Even if the job is rewritten and duties added, a raise of $9,000 to 11,000 is outrageous!
Since our tax dollars are what pays city employees salaries, we should have a say or vote on these raises. About $10,000 would have fixed the curbs on my street that I have asked the city to fix for the last 10 years. They put us on a "list."
As far as some aldermen and alderwomen not being there for the vote, or for that matter any vote, no vote should be allowed unless all of them are present or cast a vote.
This city government is more like a good old boy club than a democracy.
