Editor:
The Health Care Summit of Feb. 25, demonstrated clearly how inept our lawmakers are at running meetings and achieving agreement.
A meeting of two diverse groups, such as this, is supposed to be run by a neutral facilitator, one experienced in running meetings, not by the leader of one of the groups, ie, President Obama.
The facilitator insures equal time between the groups and documents, in clear view of all, areas of agreement and other noteworthy points.
After the meeting was only two hours old, Democrats have spoken 52 minutes, Republicans 24, there is no visible documentation and no one is guiding the meeting in a positive way.
Strike me dead if I am wrong, but I see little coming from this meeting.
What also strikes me as stupid is why the Democrats do no simply say to the Republicans is to give them a bill and they will pass it.
Not only does this result is a health care bill being passed, but probably saves the Democrats from sure defeat this fall.
Besides, who is to say who is proposing the best bill, especially since neither side is really a health care provider?
