Editor:
The city of Danville is only so-so, at best, in spring and summer. But in winter, all bets are off. There is no regard whatsoever for pedestrians.
Case in point: East Main Street was plowed in mid January because a lot of snow fell and it had to be plowed. But where did the snow go? Piled up on the sidewalk.
I called the mayor’s office about this three years ago and was told it is not the city’s responsibility but Towne Centre management’s. I called them that year and the following year. It was taken care of then. But this year nothing had been done days after the heavy snowfall.
It seems to me the city’s boss and Towne Centre’s boss need to meet and bend a little. The plows caused the sidewalk problem. Also, midway between the outer corner of County Market and Jackson Street is a bus stop. Surely that is the city’s responsibility.
On Jan. 5, I was forced to walk in the street to walk to and from the store. At my age, I should not have to do that. No one should.
The only kudos I can think to give the city are for the transit system, the urgent care facility and the CRIS center. Hopefully, in the near future, I can find more.
