Put guards in schools

DANVILLE — Editor:

How would you place the order of importance in the following list of places we should protect from terrorist attacks?

People within airports.

People within courthouses.

People within Social Security offices.

People within VA hospitals.

People within most state and federal buildings.

People within many of our banks.

People within many of our larger corporations.

Kids and teachers within our schools.

All but one of these has trained armed guards and metal detectors. In all but one of these, we hear of no mass killings. Is it just me or might we have the answer to fixing the senseless violent attacks on our children?

What’s good enough for them is good enough for our kids. Please attend the next school board meeting and demand our kids be given the same level of protection we give CEO’s and elected officials.

If we can bail out Wall Street with billions of dollars, we can spend a little extra to save our children.

This is a win-win scenario. Everybody wins, protecting both our kids and our Second Amendment at the same time. Plus, think of the added jobs it would produce if we put trained police officers inside every school building in the country.

And who knows? Armed police officers might just stop some of the drug dealing and bullying that goes on in our schools.
