Editor:
I would like to thank the U.S. House for passing a bill that is a step in the right direction to reform, and Rep. Ellsworth of Indiana. While silent on the entire issue, we, the people, are the majority. Rep. Ellsworth voted for those in his state who had no voice.
Had campaign reform come first, and lobbyist money eliminated, health care reform would not be needed. The laws and rules that led us unto this day of reform have always been written by corporate lobbyists, ex-politicians. The corporations that pay the lobbyists receive government subsidies on the one hand, and pay lobbyists to write laws and rules to protect their interests on the other.
The vast majority of the people have no say. Their congressmen were supposed to be their representatives, but hold office because of lobbyist’s money.
One step for reform, and against all odds, thank God.
What I don’t figure is why those states whose people would benefit the most from such reform are solidly against it.
So for the House of Representatives overall, thank you. On to the Senate, and I would hope to hear and see more from those who want reform, but then again they are the poor, and the working poor who have no money for lobbyists.
