Editor:
I enjoy the Opinion page of the Commercial-News and have generally read both the liberal leaning and conservative columns, but will, in the future, avoid reading the poorly thought out drivel of Leonard Pitts
Recently, he defended Muslim Americans because some are serving in the U.S. armed forces. His limited viewpoint does not seem to comprehend that a German American, Irish American or African American refer to the sources from which people came. A Muslim American proclaims that the individual is of a religious sect that believes non-Muslims are so inferior that they may be killed as a positive religious act.
To add insult to injury, he is for killing the unborn so that the government cannot force a woman to have a child she does not want. Since several sources have indicated that well over 95 percent of all abortions were from consensual sex, it would seem like it is not the “government” forcing women to have children but a lack of prevention.
He admits that being against capital punishment and for abortion is an inconsistency. He further says that conservatives use “fractured logic” to oppose abortion and support the death penalty. Is it logical to kill unborns who have never harmed anyone and not execute adults who have taken the life of others?
I think Mr. Pitts is not very thoughtful nor does he have sufficient logic to be worth reading.
