Red Cross says thanks

DECATUR — Editor:

March is Red Cross Month and we at the American Red Cross Mid-Illinois Chapter want to thank our volunteers, class takers, community partners, blood donors and financial supporters who help us assist those in need.

March is a great time to become part of the Red Cross by doing such things as developing a preparedness plan for the household, becoming a volunteer, giving blood or taking a Red Cross class.

We serve Vermilion, DeWitt, Macon, Piatt, Moultrie, Douglas and Champaign counties by responding to more than 100 disasters every year and providing critical comfort and assistance.

We also provide 24-hour support to members of the military, veterans and their families; the collection and distribution of lifesaving blood; and we train our community in lifesaving skills and emergency preparedness education.

Thank you to our local supporters whose generosity enables us to continue our work. I encourage everyone to become an Everyday Hero during Red Cross Month by helping their neighbors.
