DANVILLE —
A driver for a Champaign bus service was robbed near Fair Oaks Housing Complex.
The driver — a 39-year-old Champaign man working for Southside Express — told police he was robbed around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of East Fairchild Street and Lewis Lane.
Danville Police Deputy Director Doug Miller said the driver had just dropped off passengers near Fair Oaks and was cleaning up trash in the bus when three black males entered the vehicle.
One of the men pulled a nickel-plated handgun and demanded the driver’s money.
Miller said the driver handed over his wallet and cellular phone to the three men, who then fled on foot northbound toward Fair Oaks.
All three were described as in their late teens, standing between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall with thin builds.
Two were wearing black hooded sweatshirts with black masks and jeans and tennis shoes.
The other was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with small blue, pink and grey checks.
His hood was pulled up tightly to hide his face.
