CAYUGA, Ind. — The Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate a fall early Saturday that claimed the life of a 21-year-old Cayuga woman.
Dead is Victoria “Tori” See Hathaway.
The sheriff’s department said that Hathaway was riding on the tailgate of a pickup truck in the parking lot of the Marathon station/Burger King at Indiana Routes 63 and 234 about 2 a.m. EDT Saturday.,
As the 17-year-old driver sped up, Hathaway fell off the tailgate and struck her head on the pavement.
She was transported to Union Hospital Clinton in Clinton and taken by Lifeline helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where she died at 10:15 a.m.
She was a 2006 graduate of North Vermillion High School and was employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Danville.
