DANVILLE —
The Humane Society of Danville is seeking used dog houses or materials to make the houses.
The homes will be given to dogs in the community that do not have adequate shelter.
When animal-control officers get a complaint, the owner has 48 hours to provide a shelter. If the case goes to court, it could take 30 days. Having a house on hand gives the dog shelter in the meantime.
Also, a volunteer has offered to construct houses if materials are donated.
Officers will pick up any donated dog houses in the city and disinfect them; call 446-4110 to make arrangements.

Ron Colson attended his first Indianapolis 500 when he was 7 years old. That was 66 years ago. He’s missed only one of the Memorial Day weekend classics since then, and that was in 1950 when he had the mumps. He grudgingly handed his prized ticket over to his uncle that year.
