COVINGTON, Ind. —
Fountain County ended 2012 in good shape financially, county council president Richard Klage told councilmen Monday.
“We had a $105,000 surplus,” he said. Fountain County had receipts of $5.9 million in the general fund and spent $5.8 million.
“I hope 2013 turns out as well,” he said.
In county business, councilmen:
Heard from Garth Kagels, ambulance director, that a walk-through of the new ambulance building was conducted last week, and a few minor items are being addressed. Personnel for the grant the county received will conduct their walk-through on Feb. 7 and finalize paperwork.

Rejected a request to increase the hourly salary of the special projects assistant in the extension office from $10.49 to $11.09 per hour since no courthouse employees received raises for 2013.
