DANVILLE —
In conjunction with Lawyers Feeding Illinois, the Vermilion County Bar Association will have a food and fundraising campaign starting Monday through March 1. Residents can drop off nonperishable food items at the Dukes, Ryan, Meyer & Freed law office, 146 N. Vermilion St.
Items accepted include canned foods and nonperishable items before or past the “best by” date. Items accepted: canned or dry beans, canned fruits or vegetables, pasta, pasta sauce in plastic containers, shelf-stable milk and more.
No candy, fresh produce, homemade food, food in glass containers or food with missing labels will be accepted.
Monetary donations may also be given online at http://www.crowdrise.com/vermilioncountybarassociation-/fundraiser/chrismeyer.
Lawyers Feeding Illinois is a competitive food and fundraising campaign among lawyers and legal organizations across Illinois. Lawyers Feeding Illinois will support the work of the eight member food banks of Feeding Illinois.

Georgetown council to sell water to coal mine
What the village of Homer was unwilling to do, the city of Georgetown has agreed to do. Specifically, city council members approved a contract Monday with Sunrise Coal LLC of Terre Haute to provide, initially, 300,000 gallons of production water a day. After the mine is up and running, the city could boost that supply to 500,000 gallons of water a day.
