Work on EMS building nears completion

COVINGTON, Ind. — Work on the new Emergency Medical Services building should be completed soon the Fountain County Commissioners learned Monday.

"It is coming along very well," Commissioner Walt Wilson said. "Water and sewers should be hooked up by the second week of December."

Commissioners obtained an extension from the state. The project must be completed by the end of the year

Commissioners approved several purchases for supplies through grant money, at no cost to county taxpayers. These included two computers for the communication room for $1,701.18 from Ranhmtech Computing of Veedersburg; a janitorial cart from CP Products of Crawfordsville for $246; four medical supply carts from Uline Catalog Sales for $2,540; five office chairs from Schick School and Office Supply of Danville for $1,195; and six tables from Schick for $412.50.

In other business, commissioners:

--Approved an ordinance regulating the closing of county roads for blizzard and inclement weather. Ultimate responsibility is with the commissioners in consultation with the highway superintendent, sheriff and the Emergency Services director.

--Approved an ordinance for food establishments and bed and breakfasts in the county following the state required regulations.

--Set a commissioner sale for 10 a.m. EDT March 14 for 23 properties that have not sold at tax sales. The minimum bid will be $50.

--Approved a 20-foot easement to the old cemetery at the former county farm north of Covington.

--Will change the health care provider at the jail to Quality Correction Care of Muncie effective Jan. 1.

--Approved a new five-year term for Jasper Fogleman on the Fountain County Cemetery Commission.

--Approved a one-year extension of the contract for animal control with Paws & Claws of Attica.

Fountain County Commissioners will meet at 6:30 p.m. EST Dec. 17 at the courthouse.
