DANVILLE —
Provena United Samaritans Medical Center Foundation reports its 2010 It’s All in the Jeans Day proceeds amounted to $44,580 in contributions.
All proceeds from It’s All in the Jeans Day remain in the local community to enhance breast programs in Vermilion County, including assisting women in need with preventative exams and durable equipment, community education, and improving the patient treatment experience.
On the first Friday of October, the greater Danville area saw thousands of employees and students wearing denim with a $5 donation. In many cases, these donations were matched by employers, and matched again by “match sponsors” Old National Bank and Country Financial. It’s All in the Jeans Day shirts also were sold as part of the campaign.
A large contributor to total funds raised were Vermilion County McDonald’s restaurants, through sales of $1 support patches through the entire month of October, totaling $11,352.
“We are so grateful to the generous McDonald’s customers as well as the staff and proprietors, Don and Deanna Witzel,” said Chad Hays, vice president of Development for Provena United Samaritans, in a press release.
“Just this summer, McDonald’s raised over $16,000 for our Regional Cancer Center through a similar sale. To sell $11,352 more in patches through this effort is such a testament to the generosity of our community, and we are so very appreciative.”
