GEORGETOWN —
City council members purchased a new intercom Tuesday to allow office personnel to talk to customers paying bills through the drive-through.
Mayor Dennis Lucas said the current intercom is faulty beyond repair and replacing the system was the best route.
A new intercom will be installed at the drive-through window for $1,100 by Seico, Inc. of Pekin.
In other business, aldermen:
--Approved a request from the Georgetown-Ridge Farm Athletic Boosters to have the Geo-RF homecoming parade on Sept. 15. Line-up will begin at the fairgrounds at 5:30 p.m. with parade kick-off at 6:30 p.m.
The route will be from the fairgrounds south on Seminary Street, west on Mill Street to Illinois Route 1, then south to the police station. The route will then travel west down Second Street to the high school football field where a pep rally and crowning of the homecoming king and queen will take place.
--Will allow the planning commission to collect money at the downtown square beginning at 7 a.m. Oct. 2 for continued maintenance of the flags in town.
