Hoopeston sells ladder truck on eBay

Fire department vehicle will go to New York

HOOPESTON — After a local buyer for it could not be found, a ladder truck from the Hoopeston Fire Department will be on its way to New York soon.

“We sold the truck on eBay,” Alderman Brandon Hamilton said.

The winning bid came in at $5,000.

The bidder, Middletown’s Andrew Leider, plans to display the truck in a museum he plans to open in the town about 50 miles northwest of New York City.

“When he purchased the truck, he said he would be leaving the Hoopeston name on the truck,” Hamilton said.
