ALVIN — The name of a driver killed in an early Sunday morning crash has been released.
Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson confirmed the name of the deceased driver as William L. Hurt, 38, of Danville. He was pronounced dead just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center.
Hurt was traveling eastbound in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Illinois Route 119 near the viaduct near Alvin when the accident occurred. The vehicle went off the road to the north, striking a utility pole. The impact caused the vehicle to roll several times, ejecting the driver.
Hurt’s son, 17-year-old Dominic Hurt, received minor injuries in the crash. He walked from the scene to a nearby rural home to report the accident.
