Board accepts new street in subdivision

BISMARCK — The Bismarck Village Board approved $33,745 in Motor Fuel Tax spending at its meeting on Tuesday night.

Included in that amount is $6,000 for street lighting — the remainder will be used for street repair and maintenance on various village streets. In the past the village has paid for street lighting out of its general fund.

Also Tuesday night, the board approved an ordinance to assume responsibility of High Drive located in the High Plains subdivision. The village will accept the street in as is condition. There are currently three houses in the subdivision. The subdivision was developed by village trustee Lee High.

In other action, the board:

-- Learned the special use permit for the gravel pit located west of town will expire at the end of July. The owners have been notified.

-- Will vote on an increase of the village mileage reimbursement rate at the June meeting. The current rate is 40.5 cents per mile. The new proposed rate will be 50.5 cents per mile.

-- Approved a resolution of support of the grant application to the Community Development Assistance Program for a $150,000 preliminary engineering and design grant.

-- Approved incurring more expenses as is necessary with Beam, Longest and Neff engineering firm in its work to secure a $4.7 million loan for the village to install the sanitary sewer system.

-- Approved the purchase of running boards and grab handles for the village truck from Fagen Auto Parts of Danville for $275. Village employees will install the items.

-- Approved the payment of $1,000 to Charles Mockbee for legal work on the Wilson Lane and G Street easements. This will be paid in addition to Mockbee’s monthly retainer of $833.

-- Approved a $50 donation for post-prom activities at Bismarck-Henning High School.

-- Approved the appointment of James Anderson as the new chairperson of the planning commission. Nancy Kuras had been chairperson but requested a new chairperson be named.

-- Accepted the resignation of Mark Orsulak as a member of the planning commission and approved the appointment of Doug Young as his replacement on the planning commission.

WHAT’S NEXT

The Bismarck Village Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. June 17 in the Bismarck Methodist Church annex.
