WESTVILLE — The village council hired two part-time police officers Tuesday night.
Hired were Troy Vaughn, who also works for Georgetown, and Tom Cruppenink, a Vermilion County deputy sheriff from Westville.
In other police business, the safety recalls on the officers’ cars were completed last week.
In other business, trustees:
--Contracted Sodemann and Associates of Champaign to draw up plans to fix a sanitary sewer problem at Jefferson and Main streets. The goal is to redirect a few lines in the area to the new wet well at the Madison Street lift station in the hopes of alleviating this issue.
After the plans have been drawn up, they will be sent to the Environmental Protection Agency for approval. The estimate for the full project is around $27,000.
--Learned the winterizing of various buildings is under way, with the village garage already complete.
--Approved the amount for Christmas bonuses at $50 for full-time employees and $25 for part-time employees, the same as the past three years.
--Reminded residents that election packets are available in the village clerk’s office during regular business hours. Three trustee seats as well as village president are up for grabs in the April election.
