KVCB to raffle gift cards

DANVILLE — Keep Vermilion County Beautiful again offers the chance to win gift cards for prizes totaling $500, $300 or $200 to be re-deemed at local landscaping businesses and nurseries.

Thanks in part to an Illinois Environmental Protection Agency grant and donations from Berry’s Garden Center, Danville Gardens and Schultz Nursery, there will be a total of 16 prizes in the $500, $300, and $200 areas. Other businesses have donated $25 gift cards to give ticket-buyers a 1 in 15 chance of winning.

A ticket costs $25.Only 300 raffle tickets will be sold. Proceeds will be given out in the spring of 2009 as Keep Vermilion County Beautiful Community Grants.

“This grant program will be entering into its fourth year and people who live in a community that has received a grant know what a difference it makes,” said Lynn Wolgamot, executive director, in a press release. “Grants are sought by schools, neighborhood groups, libraries, foundations, church groups, clubs and civic organizations, villages and cities, and last year we enabled a Boy Scout to obtain his Eagle Scout badge.”

Grants have been given to projects in Belgium, Bismarck, Catlin, Danville, Fairmount, Fithian, Georgetown, Hoopeston, Muncie, Potomac, Ridge Farm, Rossville, Sidell, and Westville. Also, Georgetown Township, Love Township and Elwood Township have received grants.

Keep Vermilion County Beautiful is a 501c3 non profit organization, so tickets is tax deductible. All money will be given out in grants.
