DANVILLE — Pizzeria employees tempted fate by trying to scare off a would-be armed robber Sunday night.
A man carrying a gun slipped in a side entrance just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Domino’s Pizza, 714 N. Gilbert St., and demanded money from the employees inside.
Police Deputy Director Doug Miller said some of the employees fled to the business office, locked the door and turned off the lights to get the thief to leave.
The action worked, Miller said, forcing the armed man to leave without any cash.,
The person is described as a black male standing between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket, black ski mask, black athletic pans with a silver stripe down the side and black Nike shoes.
The man reportedly fled southbound from the business, Miller said.
