Local Roundup: Man hospitalized following crash

DANVILLE — A local resident was hospitalized following a motorcycle accident Tuesday night.

Joshua Loschen, 26, of rural Danville was taken to Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in serious condition following the crash at 10:13 p.m. Monday. He was later transferred to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Capt. Dennis Wood of the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department said the accident took place along U.S. Route 150 near County Road 680E. A witness told deputies just prior to the accident that Loschen passed his vehicle at a high rate of speed.

Loschen then attempted to maneuver through a set of curves when his motorcycle left the roadway.

He was issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving without insurance and DUI.

Monday:

Theft in the 1800 block of Perrysville Road.

Tuesday:

Reckless conduct in the 100 block of Arlington Drive.

Aman arrested for obstructing an officer in the 700 block of Mill Road.

Theft along County Road 3550N, Rossville.

Vehicle damaged in the 1800 block of Perrysville Road.

Domestic battery along County Road 1000E, Indianola.

Vehicle damaged at Webster and Fleming streets, Catlin.

Vehicle damaged in the 1800 block of Perrysville Road.

A man arrested for possession of cannabis at North Main and 16th streets, Georgetown.

Identity theft in the 27200 block of Virginia Drive, Bismarck.

Vehicle damaged in he 13600 block of Grape Creek Road.

Theft reported at the rock quarry near Fairmount.

A man arrested for reckless discharge of a firearm in the 300 block of East State Street, Fairmount. 05332

Wednesday:

A man arrested for battery at Julee’s Shooting Star, 109 W. Main St., Westville.

Accidents involving tickets or injuries include:

Wednesday, 7:57 a.m. — At802 N. Hazel St. involving Patricia Rapp, no age listed, of the 200 block of English Street, and Cameron Lindsey, no age listed, of the 1700 block of North Gilbert Street. Rapp was cited for failure to yield while Lindsey was cited for driving without insurance.

Wednesday, 4:01 p.m. — At Fairchild and Jackson streets involving Whitney Marshall, 17, of Penfield, and Leon Sellers, 64, of Danville. Marshall was cited for improper lane usage.

Wednesday, 6:07 p.m. — At Main and Gilbert streets involving Cassandra Crawley, 17, of the 200 block of Poland Road, and Donald Leirhart, 50, of Paris. Crawley was cited for failure to yield.

Firefighters responded to the following calls:

Tuesday, 12:07-12:16 p.m. — A medical call in the 900 block of Belton Avenue.

Tuesday, 12:31-1:01 p.m. — A medical call in the 500 block of Sheridan Street.

Tuesday, 6:47-7:03 p.m. — A grease fire reported at 1212 Holiday Drive.

Tuesday, 5:56-6:03 p.m. — An alarm malfunction in the 200 block of Grace Street.
