Heavy rains close 2 Covington roads

COVINGTON, Ind. — Heavy rains and flooding over the weekend have left two Fountain County roads closed.

Highway Superintendent Rusty Peevler told the Fountain County Commissioners Monday night that County Road 100 North between U.S. Route 41 and Shale Pit Road and Sand Hill Road off Portland Arch Road north of Covington are closed indefinitely. Both roads will need considerable work before they can be opened.

Peevler said 4.8 inches of rain was recorded in the county.
