CATLIN — The village council accepted the resignation of the longtime village treasurer Tuesday night.
Donald Owens, who has been the treasurer for the village for at least 25 years, said in a resignation letter to the board that he is retiring from extra duties he has in accounting.
The board will begin the search for a new treasurer soon, which is an appointed position.
In other business, commissionrs.
-- Will put summer sidewalk repairs out for bid. Some sidewalks to be repaired include areas on Martin Court, Paris Street and in front of the Catlin Historical Museum. The work should be complete by mid-July.
-- Heard that the Catlin Police department will assist with police coverage in other towns with summer functions.
An officer will be stationed at the Sidell Sesquicentennial celebration, but the village will be repaid for his time there that weekend. Help will also be given to Oakwood during the Fourth of July parade as usual.
