DANVILLE — Danville Light Opera will conduct auditions for its fall production of “Hello, Dolly!” at 2:30 p.m. today and 6:30 p.m. Monday, at DLO’s Center Stage rehearsal hall in the Village Mall.
A large cast is needed to present this musical from leading ladies to witty gentlemen to townspeople, including children.
Auditions will include singing 32-36 measures of participants’ own song selection. Participants are asked to bring music or an accompaniment CD (no CDs with vocals or a capella singing should be used). An accompanist will be available.
There also will be readings from script selections, and a short group dance.
Rehearsals will generally be 6:30-9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, and 2-5 p.m. Sundays. Additional rehearsals will be scheduled as needed. Those auditioning should bring a list of schedule conflicts during the rehearsal period from Aug. 26 to Oct. 21.
“Hello, Dolly!” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 24 in the Danville High School Auditorium. The directing team includes: Tom Fricke, drama director; Karen Grove, music director; and Cherie Turner, choreographer.
A script and chorus book are available at the Danville Public Library. Audition forms also are available on the DLO Web site at http://www.danvillelightopera.com.
