HOOPESTON — City police had to halt a train during the weekend to save an intoxicated man stuck on the railroad tracks.
Hoopeston officers were called just before 2 a.m. Sunday to the railroad tracks at West Washington Street where they found a Ford Ranger truck stuck on the tracks.
Chief Mark Drollinger said officers were working to try to get the vehicle, driven by Eusmen A. Guillen, 39, of Hoopeston, when a CSX train was spotted headed southbound toward the location.
Drollinger said the officers were able to alert the train to the problem, getting it stopped about four blocks from the truck, which was caught at an angle on the tracks.
Guillen was arrested for DUI, driving without a valid driver’s license and not having insurance. He was incarcerated at the Public Safety Building jail with bond set at $3,000.
