A Vermilion County woman remains hospitalized following an early morning accident on a rural county road southwest of Hoopeston.
The one-vehicle crash was reported around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday on County Road 1280E, one-half mile south of the intersection with County Road 3800N.
According to accident reports, Felicia Isaacs, 19, of Hoopeston was driving a 1998 Dodge Ram truck southbound on 1280E at the time of the crash.
She and two passengers — Mackenzie Atchie, 16, and Cyerra Wilburn, 16, both of Hoopeston — were injured in the accident and taken to Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital for treatment. Isaacs and Wilburn were both treated and released from Hoopeston Community.
Atchie was transferred to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana where a spokeswoman for the hospital confirmed she was in good condition Wednesday morning.
Accident reports indicated Isaacs was driving in a “very reckless and erratic fashion” at the time of the crash, according to statements from the two passengers.
Isaacs lost control as she was headed south and overcorrected, sending the truck off the west side of the road. The vehicle overturned once completely, hitting two evergreen trees. The truck continued on, hitting a fence row and three more trees before coming to a rest.
Isaacs was cited on charges of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to wear a seat belt.
