DANVILLE — Provena Regional EMS announces two courses are now available in the Danville area to learn lifesaving skills.

Provena Regional EMS will offer Heart Saver Pediatric First Aid classes and Healthcare Provider CPR classes on an alternating schedule at the Danville Family YMCA.

“We’ve been offering these courses in Champaign for some time and noticed that many participants were traveling from Vermilion County,” said Troy Dunn, training center coordinator with Provena Regional EMS, in a press release. “So we’re thrilled to be able to offer them now right in Danville.”

Pediatric First Aid is a nationally-recognized American Heart Association Heartsaver class, taught by qualified instructors in an easy-to-understand “watch and practice” format. This class is perfect for the home daycare provider, school employee, or anyone interested in learning the skills. This one-day course will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., every other month —Sept. 25, Nov. 20, Jan. 29, March 26 and May 28 —and the fee is $40.

The CPR class is offered for any provider in the health care field who has not previously had CPR instruction. The half-day course is 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 30, Dec. 18, Feb. 26, April 30 and June 25. The fee is $35.

To register for any of these classes, contact Paulette Myers at the Danville Family YMCA, (217) 442-0563.
