Three hurt in morning wreck near Rossville

ROSSVILLE — Three people were extricated from a car by rescue personnel after it ran off a county road this morning east of Rossville, trapping the driver and passengers.

The accident was reported just before 9 a.m. today along County Road 1830E just north of Attica Road.

Capt. Dennis Wood of the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department said the car, a 1989 Dodge Stratus, was headed northbound on County Road 1830E when the driver, Robert McCrory, 49, of Hoopeston, said he swerved to miss a deer.

Wood said McCrory lost control of the car, which left the roadway and rolled over in the ditch. McCrory, who received only minor injuries in the crash, was arrested on charges of DUI and driving with a suspended driver’s license, Wood said.

McCrory and two passengers — Pamela Williams, 44, of Watseka, and Allen Bogard, 35, of Hoopeston — had to be cut out of the vehicle by members of the Rossville Fire Protection District. All where taken to Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital.

Wood said McCrory was treated and released.

Both passengers, however, were transferred on to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Williams suffered facial injuries while Bogard received broken bones as a result of the crash. Both were listed in fair condition Friday afternoon at Carle.
