BISMARCK — Village board members approved a contract for $1,500 with T.J. Ribbe of Bismarck to install a textured brick crosswalk at the school crossing on Holloway Street across from the Bismarck-Henning Grade School building.
The textured brick crosswalk will feature red brick inlaid with a white cross-hatch markings. The installation of this cross-walk will save the village money in both paint and labor costs to paint the crosswalk twice a year. The crosswalk material and labor are guaranteed for five years. The design of the textured brick crosswalk is intended to be highly visible to motorists at a greater distance than regular painted pavement markings.
In other action, trustees:

-- Approved the appointment of Nancy Brain to the planning commission.
-- Approved the appointment of Mildred Cook as planning commission chairperson.
-- Granted a special use permit to Carol Boyd to operate a craft shop at her home at 309 Maiden Lane as recommended by the planning commission. Boyd along with Julie Elliott will operate the craft shop on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays as well as by appointment. Boyd can be contacted at 759-7448.
