Police seek suspect in armed robbery

COVINGTON, Ind. — The Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department continues to search for the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred Friday night in the Beef House Restaurant parking lot.

The armed robbery occurred shortly before 8:24 p.m. Friday.

The victims were a husband and wife from Champaign, who had just parked and exited their vehicle in the lot at 16501 N. Indiana Route 63, in Vermillion County.

The male victim said he was grabbed by his coat collar and a knife was placed against his face. The suspect told the victim to give him his money.

When the suspect did not receive money from the male, he approached the female, still brandishing the knife. The suspect then took the female’s purse and fled south toward County Road 1650 North.

The suspect holding the knife was a black male, standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall, and was dressed in black pants and a black shirt, with a black knit stocking cap.

The suspect also had facial hair.

The sheriff’s department also received unconfirmed reports that the suspect fled the scene in a blue SUV. No direction of travel was given.

Units from the Vermillion, Warren and Fountain county sheriff’s departments, Indiana State Police and Covington City Police assisted in searching for the suspect.
