New H1N1 cases found

BY BRIAN L. HUCHEL

DANVILLE — The Vermilion County Health Department received confirmation of three more H1N1 flu cases in the county.

Word of the three new cases — a school-age child and two adults — came Tuesday for the health department.

Administrator Steve Laker said no serious situations developed as a result of the infection. He said each person has recovered or is recovering at this point.

The new cases make four total for Vermilion County so far. A Danville child tested positive for the virus in October.

News of the new cases came the same day the health department began H1N1 clinics in the county. Just more than 1,000 people were vaccinated on the first day for the clinics, which are scheduled through the beginning of December.

The Centers for Disease Control classifies the H1N1 virus as being “widespread” in the state of Illinois as well as almost all of the contiguous 48 states.
