TILTON — Tilton Mayor David Phillips accepted a plaque on behalf of the Tilton Fire Department from the Muscular Dystrophy Association at the village board meeting Thursday night.
The plaque, presented by Kevin and Leann Atkins, was to honor the fire department for its fundraising efforts for MDA.
The Atkins’ son, Christopher, has been the MDA poster child for the past year. The Atkins family has also been named the 2010 MDA ambassador family.
The board also announced the senior citizens Christmas dinner will be at noon Dec. 13 in the public works building at the park.
In other action, trustees:
-- Learned that Phillips had extended the liquor license for the Grapevine Liquor Store until the end of the year.
The liquor license had been conditional as long as the owners of the liquor store agreed to keep open the adjoining restaurant, the Grapevine Café. The café is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Owners are considering opening for breakfast in the future.
-- Approved a new sewer agreement with the new owners of the natural gas generating station in Tilton. The agreement with Tilton Energy LLC calls for a payment of $600 quarterly for sewer charges.
Tilton Energy bought generating station from Dynegy earlier this year.
-- Gave Phillips permission to issue a building permit to Super Wash of Morrison to construct a car wash in the 1900 block of Georgetown Road. The car wash will contain two automatic car wash bays and two self-service car wash bays. Construction is expected to start in the spring.
-- Granted conditional permission to Travel Trailers of Tilton to erect a new sign as long as it meets village ordinance requirements and receives Illinois Department of Transportation permission.
-- Agreed to hire attorney Curt Froelich of Champaign for legal regarding the Tax Increment Financing district at an hourly rate of $175.
-- Approved the payment of $5,800 to Brown Construction of Danville for boring work under the street in the Southgate addition. The boring was necessary to install cable TV and Internet cable to Todd’s Auto Body Shop and DTI Office Solutions.
-- Approved an agreement with ERH Enterprises of Westville to construct a lift station on Hodge Street for $41,000. The lift station will serve areas of the village east of the old Lamplighter Club.
-- Approved the payment of $20,000 to Thomas Excavating of Tilton for fill material and grading on West Ross Lane.
-- Received proposed ordinances concerning rental housing registration and vacant homes. The ordinances will be voted on at the December board meeting.
COMING UP
The Tilton Village Board will meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 17 at the village hall.
