Craft fair offers gift ideas

DANVILLE — The Christmas Village Craft Fair is in its 17th year and it will have more vendors this year than any other year — 24.

Danville Recreation Manager Cindy Parson said they will be using all available space on the first floor of the Harrison Park Clubhouse.

Last year, there were 21 vendors. And due to the limited space, they’ve had to turn some vendors away.

Out of the 24 vendors, 11 are new to this year’s event.

Items for sale will include: handmade socks, embroidery, crochet and needlepoint items, ornaments, miscellaneous sewing, doll clothes, blankets, peanut brittle, handmade jewelry, small decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, silk arrangements, Pampered Chef, teddy bears, home décor, Mary Kay, Stampin’ Up, wood crafts, Avon, quilts, geese clothes, pottery, snowmen, glass angels, stone towels and a café, which will serve homemade hot food.

“The craft show gives people the chance to visit our wonderful facility and the opportunity to buy homemade, handmade gift items that they would not find elsewhere,” Parson said.

One new vendor, Danville resident Carol Yuochunas, has decorated paint cans.

She recently sold out of all of them at a Covington craft fair.

Yuochunas said during the last couple of years she’s gone to the craft fair at Harrison Park.

“Every year it gets better,” she said.

In Yuochunas’ spare time, she makes bird houses, decorates Christmas trees and has decorated paint cans with Christmas wrap.

She likes that the craft fair covers two days.

Parson said Harrison Park Clubhouse makes for a wonderful place to have a show.

“We have free admission, a close private parking lot and the facility is handicapped-accessible. It is a very nice, cozy place to have a Christmas craft fair. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly,” Parson said.

IF YOU GO

The Christmas Village Craft Fair will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Harrison Park Clubhouse, at the west end of Voorhees Street.
