DANVILLE — Lutheran Social Services of Illinois will dedicate Deer Creek Manor, a senior housing program, this week.
The dedication at 3916 N. Vermilion St. will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a light lunch for invited guests. The public is welcome to tour the housing site between 1 and 2 p.m.
Scheduled to attend are the Rev. Denver Bitner, LSSI president, and David Jensen, chief officer, as well as a representative of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Deer Creek features 25 one-bedroom apartments that include wall-to-wall carpeting in the living room and bedroom, a full kitchen with appliances, a visitor entry system and other amenities. The two-story building features a rustic lodge theme inside and out, and it is located in a tranquil setting on a wooded lot that is convenient to shopping, dining and other businesses.
The residential community, which cost $4.2 million to build, is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago.
To qualify for a unit, residents must be 62 or older and meet income limits along with HUD rules and regulations. Rent is 30 percent of the resident’s adjusted annual income. LSSI manages 20 other senior housing projects throughout Illinois.
