COVINGTON, Ind. — Some farmers have this year’s crop out of the field and will be able to attend the Bi-State Crop Management Conference. After the challenges of this year’s growing season getting a jump start planning for the 2010 crop year might be in order.
University of Illinois Extension and Purdue Extension will host the annual Bi-State Crop Management Conference on Thursday at the Beef House, located at the intersections of Interstate 74 and Indiana Route 63 in Covington, Ind. The program is from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. EST.
Topics include: Nitrogen Management and Other Corny Issues, Insect Issues and Soybean Production Challenges and Insect Issues.
Bob Nielsen, Purdue Extension corn specialist, will discuss the nitrogen and corn topic. Vince Davis, University of Illinois soybean production specialist, will address the soybean challenges. Christian Krupke, Purdue Extension entomologist, will speak on the insect issues.
The afternoon highlight is a precision ag panel, consisting of farmers, commercial applicators and university specialists.
Continuing education credits are available for Certified Crop Advisors, Indiana Commercial Pesticide Applicators and Registered Technicians and Indiana’s PARP participants. Additional $10 fee applies for credits
Cost is $15 (payable at the door) includes Beef House buffet lunch and materials. No pre-registration required.
