HOOPESTON — Hoopeston area residents and former employees are invited to share their stories and remembrances of the Lorraine Theatre’s earlier years for a high school media class documentary at 1 p.m. Jan. at the main theater.
"Now it’s the community’s chance to be involved in the documentary," said Dan Reed, media instructor at Hoopeston Area High school.
The first two phases of the documentary, a tour of the theater and an interview with owner Josh Caudle have already been taped, according to Reed.
This last phase, stories and remembrances, is the final process before the students tie all the footage together. Christin Prince, a senior at Eastern Illinois University and Hoopeston Area alumnus, will conduct this final phase.
"It’s a way to let everyone know the history (of the Lorraine)," said Katana Byers, chairman of the documentary project.
Any and all former employees, or persons with special memories of events that took place at the theater, interested in taking part in the documentary can contact Dan Reed at (217) 283-9511 or e-mail: dreed@hoopeston.k12.il.us. or just meet at the Lorraine Theatre located on the corner of Third and Main Street in downtown Hoopeston on Jan. 6.
The present site of the Lorraine Theatre was the location of Harriet Hunter Crouch VanNess’ home. The home was remodeled into a two-story home about 1910, moved in the 1920s, and is now located at 102 South Third St.
