ROSSVILLE — On Monday night, the village board agreed to move of $481,000 in funds from the Bank of Rossville to the Community Bank of Hoopeston.
According to Mayor Terry Prillaman, the move was made strictly due to the Hoopeston bank offering a better interest rate on village funds.
“The Bank of Rossville would only offer 1.29 percent on our funds and the Community Bank of Hoopeston has agreed to pay us 2.15 percent,” Prillaman told trustees.
The board approved the 2010 holiday dates for village employees with a couple of changes.
The board approved adding Nov. 11 — Veteran’s Day — as a village holiday. The board removed February 12 — Lincoln’s birthday — as a holiday but added April 2 — Good Friday — as a village holiday.
In other board action, trustees:
-- Approved safety awards to the six full-time village employees of $100 each and the seven part-time village employees will receive $50 safety awards.
-- Approved a change to the billboard/highway advertising sign ordinance. The change lists a maximum size a bill-board/advertising sign can be is 40 square feet. Billboards still are not allowed within the village limits.
-- Approved the termination of Sodemann and Associates of Champaign as engineers for the village water treatment plant. Prillaman said work on the water treatment plant improvements are nearly completed and any additional engineering work needed would be done by another engineering firm on an hourly basis.
