GOP to select new Attica mayor
ATTICA, Ind. — Republican precinct committeemen in Attica will choose a new mayor at a caucus at 6 p.m. EST Jan. 7 at the city building, 305 E. Main St.
Fountain County Republican Chairman Terry Martin has called the meeting to replace three-term mayor Deon H. “Butch” Swift, who died Dec. 10 after a short illness.
Anyone interested in filing for mayor can pick up the required forms at the city building. The forms will be turned in to Martin by Jan. 4.
Swift was first elected mayor in 1999 and was re-elected in 2003 and 2007. His term expires in 2009.
Councilwoman Valarie Maus is serving as mayor pro-tem.
