DANVILLE — The Danville City Council has a light agenda to start off 2010, prior to receiving an updated cash flow report and budget schedule for this spring.
Aldermen will consider this week donating surplus fire equipment to area agencies.
Self-contained breathing apparatuses are proposed to be given to the Danville Police/Fire Arson Investigation Unit (one set), Danville Area Community College Fire Science Program (seven sets, three voice amps), and Bismarck, Lynch and Georgetown fire protection districts (27 sets, 15 additional masks, 27 additional oxygen bottles and 11 voice amps).
Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said the SCBAs are no longer in service and no longer necessary.
“They’re over 10 years old,” Thomason added. The fire department received new SCBAs through a grant.
Thomason said the resale value is negligible, and the Danville Fire Department can benefit from the mutual aid if needed.
Also Tuesday, the city council will consider clarifying the July 1, 2010, effective date in the body of the sales tax increase ordinance and amending an ordinance regarding Illinois Freedom of Information Act changes to comply with state law.
Requests for the inspection and copying of non-exempt public records pursuant to the FOIA Act may be made in person between 8 a.m. and noon and 1-4:30 p.m., except on holidays, at the Danville Public Safety Building, 2 E. South St., for police informa-tion and the Office of the City Clerk, 17 W. Main St., for all other information.
The city also will accept FOIA requests received via fax, e-mail and mail.
Fees for copies vary. Accident reports are $5, while black and white 8½-by-11 copies are 15 cents each. Requestors shall be furnished with the first 50 pages of letter or legal, black and white copies at no charge.
