Lions Club plans annual Chili Day

DANVILLE — The Danville Lions Club will host its annual Chili Day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at St. James Methodist Church.

Tickets: $6 at the door or $5 in advance. Tickets are available from Lions Club members.

Attendees are asked to bring used eyeglasses and hearing aids to the event.

Funds raised are used to help numerous local organizations as well as fund the Lions Club local eyeglass program, which assists people with financial need in obtaining eyeglasses.

Georgetown council to sell water to coal mine
What the village of Homer was unwilling to do, the city of Georgetown has agreed to do. Specifically, city council members approved a contract Monday with Sunrise Coal LLC of Terre Haute to provide, initially, 300,000 gallons of production water a day. After the mine is up and running, the city could boost that supply to 500,000 gallons of water a day.
